Our FS2 children have been celebrating and learning all about the Lunar New Year this week, leading up to the start of the new year on Saturday.
They participated in various themed activities such as writing cards, making money purses, creating fans and decorations in the workshop, building dragons in construction, and cooking Chinese food in the role-play area.
The children have learned that red is considered a lucky color and that the celebration takes place every new moon. This year, it is the year of the Dragon! We explained to the children that if they were born in 2018, they were born in the year of the dog, or in 2019, the year of the pig. They found this amusing!
