On Wednesday 5th February, 20 of our Y5 and Y6 children took part in the annual School Games Athletics Competition. The children did amazingly well, finishing 5th out of 27 schools, with the results very close for 2nd place (The top 2 teams qualified for the South Yorkshire finals at EIS in March). Aston Hall also finished 1st out of the trust schools that took part, and the girls have bragging rights this year, after scoring 20 more points overall than the boys!
A special shoutout to a few children for achieving gold standard scores/distances in individuals events, in line with the official School Games scoring system:
⭐ Well done to Amelia, who achieved the joint highest score out of 54 girls across the competition in speed bounce
⭐ Well done to Finlay R, who achieved the 2nd highest score out of 54 boys in speed bounce
⭐ Well done to Ella, who achieved the 2nd highest score out of 54 girls in the standing long jump
Although the event as a whole didn’t qualify as gold on the School Games scoring system (this is reliant on enough children across the schools scoring enough points), a special shoutout to Leo who by far had the longest throw in the seated throw event.
Well done everyone, yet another fantastic effort from children at Aston Hall!
