Science Week!

On Monday Y2 investigated how we could make ice melt quicker, to try and work out why the ice in the Arctic is melting and endangering polar bear survival.

Children came up with their own ideas for how to melt the ice and then we timed them to see which method melted the ice the quickest. We then looked at our results and asked the question ‘why did this method melt the ice the quickest?’ and we quickly realised that adding heat makes ice melt quicker. We then linked this back to the polar bears and discussed how climate change and global warming are increasing the temperature of Earth- and therefore we are adding heat to the ice in the Arctic and making it melt quicker.

Well done Y2!
