Earlier in the year, our Y5/6 children took part in climbing activities on WPT’s climbing wall at Cranworth. The two schools in the Trust with the fastest climbers – Aston Hall Junior & Infant School and Rawmarsh Sandhill Primary School – were selected to represent WPT at this year’s Greater Sheffield Bouldering Competition.
On Friday, six Y6 children from Aston Hall and 6 from Rawmarsh Sandhill went to the Climbing Works in Sheffield to take part.
Layla, Charlotte, Evie, Niamh, Eddie and Finley did an amazing job and racked up a huge amount of points by working as team, being strategic and thoughtful in their approach to the bouldering problems, as well as providing great encouragement for each other.
After a tough few hours and some sore hands – despite not having safety lines/ropes – they completed the course with a great score.
We eagerly await now for a few weeks whilst the remaining schools compete to see if they have qualified for the next round.
Either way, they had a great time, did amazingly well and were a credit to the school in their attitudes and behaviour.
Well done!
