Mrs Grady
Meet your teacher
Mrs Thompson
Hello, my name is Mrs Thompson and I’m one of your Foundation Stage teachers. I’ve been teaching at Aston Hall for over a decade now – the time has flown by! I joined the Foundation Stage team in recent years and
I really enjoy seeing how much the children develop in their first year of school. When I’m not at school, I love to spend time with my family. At the weekends, we often go for long walks in the local countryside. I also love to read and I ALWAYS have a book on the go. I’m also a very creative person – I’m a self-taught knitter, I like to sew and to create papercut art.
Mrs Grady
Hi. My name is Mrs Grady and I began working at Aston Hall last year. I already knew the school well though, as I have a teenager who came to Aston Hall, and I have a son that is currently here. I also came here as a child! I’m really enjoying working in different classes and getting to know all of the children. I have been a teacher for over 20 years and I really enjoy working with children and seeing them progress through school.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, running and watching films. Disney and superhero films are some of my favourites! I also love going to theme parks and on other days out with my family.
Meet your Teaching Assistants
Mrs Rodgers
Hi everyone, I’m Mrs Rodgers and my role is Teaching Assistant at the school.
I have worked in the school since September 2013, initially as a lunchtime assistant, when my daughter started at school in FS2. Proving that age is no barrier, I completed a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship between October 2020 and May 22. I currently work in FS2 and love helping the children to grow and reach their potential.
My interests away from work include spending time with my family and being involved with football, both as a player and as a coach at junior level.
Mrs James
Being a level 3 teaching assistant in EYFS is so much fun, I love to help and support the children to blossom and celebrate their individual achievements as they move through the year. My role includes focusing on speech and communication, working both 1-1 and in groups with many children. I regularly cover for the teachers if they are out of the classroom.
Most of my twelve years at Aston Hall have been spent in EYFS, with a couple of years in KS1. I am in a privileged position to have worked with most of the children in the school.
Outside of school I enjoy cooking and baking bread, keeping fit by going to the gym and walking. My family and I also enjoy visiting the theatre and going to Cornwall on holiday.
Areas of Learning
Autumn Term
Autumn Term Learning Questions: ‘Who lives in the Woods?’ and ‘Can you take care of me?’ In the Autumn term we will cover autumnal changes, nocturnal animals and people who help us. At the end of this term, the children will also take part in a Nativity Performance.
Spring Term
Spring Term Learning Questions: ‘Can you read me a Story?’ and ‘Who is your Hero?’ During this term children will learn traditional tales/fairytales and children will explore what makes a super hero, not all heroes wear capes!
Summer Term
Summer Term Learning Questions: ‘Do Cows drink Milk?’ and ‘Who lives in the Sea?’ During the Summer term children will learn about farmyard animal life cycles and may see this with their own eyes when we have some special little visitors! Children will also learn all about the seaside and sea creatures and will enjoy a school trip to Cleethorpes.
Useful Information
During your time in Foundation, you will meet lots of new friends, learn new skills and grow in confidence!
The children will be spending the first weeks becoming familiar with the environment and building relationships with staff and children.
Staff will be working with children to get to know them and observing them in all areas of the setting as part of the baseline assessments.
At Aston Hall we all enjoy doing our learning together, both in the classroom and outdoors.
