We use the interactive Class Dojo app to share learning experiences, photographs of learning, messages and information about the curriculum with parents and carers each week. If you would like to find out more about learning at Aston Hall J&I please see your class teacher for log information and log on to your Class Dojo thread here: Class Dojo
We want to say a massive ‘well done’ to all the children as we have noticed how independent they are becoming in putting their own belongings away and saying goodbye to their grown-ups at the classroom door/cloakroom. We would like to continue to do this as, after the Easter holiday, we will be asking all children to say goodbye to their grown-ups at the classroom door to begin their transition ready for Year 1. Thank you for your continued support, we know that all the children will take this in their stride!
Reading at home!
Many of the children are reading regularly at home – well done to the children and a big thank you to all parents/carers for finding time to share books at home as regular reading experiences are so important. Please continue to make comments in your child’s reading record to keep us up to date on any new words they are recognising, comments they make about the story as well as answering questions that are appropriate to the text that they are reading.
Learning at Home Records
Many of you have started to complete ‘Learning at Home Records’ to tell us about the wonderful learning that you see at home/out of school. We continue to add your valuable contributions to your child’s ongoing assessments records.
Please continue to complete these slips (which are always available on the notice board) to keep us informed and so we can celebrate your child’s progress throughout the school year together. You can also send evidence through the Class Dojo system to your child’s class teacher via a message.
Your child’s interests
We aim to engage all our learners through providing activities which interest and excite them. To help us do this, please continue to record your child’s ever-changing interests on the sheet on the notice board in the cloakroom. Many thanks to those of you who have shared your children’s interests with us already!
Show and Tell and Junk Modelling
Lots of the children have taken an interest in ‘Show and Tell’ recently, which is a fantastic speaking and listening opportunity for all the children. Please, can we ask that children bring objects to share that are related to our topic or special things to share that are related to an achievement outside of school e.g. a swimming/dancing/karate etc. certificate or photograph etc.
Also, the children are really interested in the junk modelling table at the moment. If anyone has any boxes, plastic bottles, yoghurt pots etc. that the children could reuse, they would be gratefully received – especially as we think rocket building will be a new favourite activity within the coming weeks! Due to allergies and hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept egg boxes and toilet roll tubes.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Foundation Stage team.
